# Tendedero — full text Tendedero is a free, open source macOS app that hangs every screenshot on a thin line just above the screen. This file describes the app, its reception and its website for AI agents and search tools. Short version: https://tendedero.app/llms.txt Website and live demo: https://tendedero.app Source code: https://github.com/alejandrobujan/tendedero Releases: https://github.com/alejandrobujan/tendedero/releases/latest Press kit: https://tendedero.app/press/ Launch post on X: https://x.com/alejandr0bujan/status/2107726966304690416 Developer: Alejandro Buján, https://alejandrobujan.com Contact: hi@alejandrobujan.com ## In one line Tendedero is a free, open source Mac app that hangs every screenshot on a line just above your screen. ## Description Tendedero, Spanish for "clothesline", hangs every screenshot you take on a thin line just above your screen, each one in a glass frame on a clip. Rest the pointer in the menu bar and the line glides down; move away and it tucks itself out of sight. Every gesture does one thing. Click to copy. Press and hold to open Markup. Double click to open Preview, or force click for Quick Look. Drag a photo into an app to send a copy, into a folder to keep it, or to the Trash to let it go. Hand Tendedero your screenshots and they skip the Desktop entirely: no floating thumbnail, no five-second wait. Screen recordings hang too and can be trimmed in place, and images you copy can hang as well. There is no account, no network access and no analytics. Tendedero is free and MIT licensed, signed and notarized by Apple, and runs on macOS 14 Sonoma or later on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. ## Gestures - Click: copy the image. - Press and hold: open it in Markup. - Double click: open it in Preview. - Force click: take a quick look (Quick Look). - Drag into an app: send a copy. It stays on the line. - Drag into a folder: keep it there. It leaves the line. - Drag to the Trash, or click the cross: let it go. - Rest the pointer in the menu bar: bring the line down on that screen. - Click anything in the menu bar: put the line away. - Control-Option-T: show or hide the line. It can be changed under Shortcut in the menu bar. ## Handling screenshots On first launch, Tendedero offers to handle your screenshots. If you accept, it turns off the floating thumbnail and saves new screenshots to its own folder, two settings also found under Options in Command-Shift-5. Each capture hangs the instant it is taken, and only what you drag out is kept. Your previous settings are saved and restored when Tendedero quits or the option is turned off from the menu bar. Tendedero hides automatically while an app is in full screen. ## Recordings and copied images Screen recordings hang on the line with a play button over them; press and hold one to trim it. Take a screenshot with Control held, or copy an image in Preview, and it hangs on the line like any other once Hang copied images is turned on in the menu bar. Only images: anything copied along with text or a file, and anything a password manager marks as private, is left alone. ## Menu bar Show or hide the line, take everything down, handle screenshots, hang copied images, bring the line down (when the pointer rests in the menu bar, when something new hangs, over full screen apps), keep on line (as many as fit, 25, 50 or 100), size (small, medium, large), shortcut, also watch folders (up to three), open the screenshots folder, sounds, open at login, Check for Updates, and quit. ## Tech specs - Compatibility: macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon and Intel.
